This section covers some of the past and present projects and work that I have taken on and produced, throughout my own study and also during my time spent at University studying for a BA in Multimedia Computing.
If there is a specific aspect of my work you are interested in, or would like more information about, then please use the details on the Contact page to get in touch.
More detailed information on the tools and software that I used can be found in my C.V. which can be obtained via e-mail - you can find my contact details on the Contact page.
Web & Graphics
Most of my Graphic related work has come from the artefacts that I have produced for the various websites mentioned below. I have a keen interest in utilising the tools and techniques of graphic production (Photoshop, Imageready, Illustrator etc) and, whilst being proficient in them to a level, I am always on the look out for new and interesting ways to development my skills and talents, to produce better work. If you have a specific interest or need for a piece of graphics development then please get in touch via the Contact page.
As a member of the forum on SoccerAM.net I also was part of a team of other forum members, called Banner Resource, who would design and create forum signatures/banners for people to attach to their profiles. This proved a highly popular service, which we provided for free, not only to the forum users of SoccerAM.net but also to other websites. An old archived version of our website can be viewed here.
As well as the websites listed below, I also own a couple of other domain names for which I plan to use to make websites for in the future -
playupskyblues.co.uk and pusb.co.uk.
Simmoswebsite.co.uk/Simonwoodward.net
I have developed countless personal websites over the years, and had a couple of different domain names to go with them. Some of my old designs are quite, well, old, but it does show the progression of design work over the years.
Unfortunately, I don't have local copies of most of my previous website versions. However, you can use the Internet Archive Wayback Machine to do a search for previously archived versions of my website - Wayback Machine. I have included screen shots above of local copies of my site, plus screen shots of the archived versions on Archive.org. Some of these archives contain broken or missing images.
SoccerAM.net
Current design (June 2008)
Previous versions of the website (with some graphics produced by me)
One of my biggest projects, in terms of time and also effort, has been the recent revamp of the popular Soccer AM (Sky Sports Saturday morning Football show) fan website - www.socceram.net, where I completely overhauled all of the content.
I became involved with the website many years ago, starting off as a simple member of the discussion forums and as time went by I became more active in the running of the forum and eventually initiated a completely fresh update and design for the entire main site. Unfortunately this was during a 6month period of downtime where the site was completely offline due to issues with the hosting company. The new design was finished in late 2007 but was unable to launch until February 2008. In this time, a lot of the "regular" site visitors lost interest and have not returned to the website since its relaunch. For a period of time I also created a large amount of forum banners/graphical signatures for members of the forum.
In June 2008 I assisted a friend (Chris from Ridgeon-Network) in designing and creating a simple HTML website for a client who runs a Bed & Breakfast in Devon, UK. The main bulk of the grapics and the layout etc was designed by me, including the creation of the website banner image and other decorative graphics and some light image manipulation and organisation.

Tinn Man
In the same style as The Grange website, I also assisted Ridgeon Network in creating a basic website for a client to display product information regarding a comic book character and associated materials. This was for Atlantis Studios, and the character was the Tinn Man. Unfortunately that website is now offline, but you can visit the Atlantis Studios website here, where it is mentioned.
Vexation
For a long period of time I managed and maintained the website for a local band, Vexation. However they have since folded and no longer exist as a band, and as such neither does their website, which was taken offline. When it was active, I was involved with creating, designing and maintaining the website constantly, and attending band practice's and gigs/events to take pictures and record video content which would then be uploaded onto the webiste, for interested viewers. Some photos that I consider to my "good" have been uploaded to my Flickr account, which you can find more information about further down the page.
www.PintAtTheFlag.com
This website was setup after an idea (possibly stemming from alcohol consumption) from a group of friends at my local pub to document our trips and events during our times at the drinking establishment. The site was never meant as anything other than personal and a "bit of fun", hence it doesn't really recieve any attention these days. It was created using basic web techniques with a large selection of pictures from various occasions at the pub, with some image manipulation including a stock photograph of a pint glass to use for the navigation etc.
"Wodoward Technology"
Woodward Technology was a mock onine sales website that I designed for the purposes of a module studied at College. The website had a easy to navigate product structure and contained images and detailed information about technology and computer related products. For this website and its associated documentation etc, I recieved a double A grade.
"Clear Vision "
Clear Vision was another college project website, this time dealing with the sale f monitors and VDU's (Visual Display Units) The website contained images and detailed information about VDU's and also corporate information and selectable product categories.
Video & Audio
My interest in audio and video production grew at a very quick pace whilst studying in my final year at University. Before this time I had only really made family or personal videos for leisure using very basic video editing packages. Using the teaching, content, materials and equipment at University, plus my own personal learning, I developed sevral different media artefacts for different modules and different purposes etc, all of which I am very proud of. Below is some of the work I have produced, hosted externally as YouTube videos for convienience.
You can also view my other general video work from my YouTube account page -

Using DV camera, 3D animation and Sony Vegas editing software, we produced a spoof 15 second "channel ident" style (i.e. Channel4/E4 Estings) video for our chosen topic. It also included original audio, which I produced in Fruity Loops audio package.
Advert -

Using a DV camera to shoot the footage and using Sony Vegas to edit the video, we created a 30 second advert on the product of our choice.
Stop motion animation -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ob_fKIXGL4 Also known as clay-mation. Using still photographs to take a picture of an object after a slight movement, then combining them together in Sony Vegas to create a flowing stop-frame animation video piece.
Using the Rostrum camera style effect, we created a Photostory video artefact using 15 digital photographs, edited together using Sony Vegas. The Rostrum camera effect is commonly used in media to dynamically display still images or photographs to keep the momentum of the moving picuture.
Off the back of the work we were producing for University, myself and a friend experimented in our own time using the advanced techniques of Sony Vegas (Cookie cutting and masking) to create these two simple videos showing cloning without using a green/blue screen or advanced equipment.
Gallery of Time: 7 Deadly Sins As a major piece of Final Year University portfolio work, we created individual media and video artefacts for the theme of the 7 Deadly Sins to fit into a wider umbrella of The Gallery Of Time. Using Sony Vegas and a varierty of complex editing techniques to produce the final edited product. I created videos for the sins of Sloth and Wrath, and jointly created the video for the sin of Envy.
I have always been interested in photography, but I class myself very much as an amateur photographer who only takes photo's for leisure etc. I own an average 5mp camera, but I would one day love to use a proper Digital SLR as I believe it would improve my composure and other aspects of photography so much more and I would definately like to develop my talent and skills in this area and hope to take more photos in general, as I believe they can be an amazing form of expression of so many different aspects of life.
Some of my "best" photography can be found on my Flickr page, you can get to this via the link - http://www.flickr.com/photos/simonwoodward, or look at a few examples on my Flickr Badge below -

Other
Whilst studying for a module as part of my final year at University, I developed a great interest in emerging web technologies, specifically that of Web 2.0, Web 3.0 and the semantic Web in general. It also covered web authoring tools such as CSS, PHP and XHTML.
The assessed portion of this module was to create and maintain a blog throughout the whole module duration, documenting our findings and research into these technologies, and also to demonstrate our ability to use the blogging software (WordPress).. I spent a good deal of time reading up on topics and subjects relating to the module in my own time as I began to delve deeper into the contents of the work, and discovered the fasinating future of the Web, as well as the past and how it came to be what we know today.
